About the Author

Sue Ferguson, married to husband Randy Ferguson for nearly 50 years, is known by family and friends to be a perpetual learner. They often tease her admiringly about the many obsessions she has plunged into headfirst over the decades. Her doodles, Einstein and Wilson, took her into deep waters and stretched her well beyond her comfort zone. She considers the training adventure to be one of the richest learning experiences of her life. Should God gift her with many more years, she looks forward to raising her next puppy into an amazing dog.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is something you’ll do differently with your next pup?

Prioritize intentional play over practicing commands.

Did you do anything right with your doods?

Yes! I’m excellent at potty training.

What if other family members don’t take the same consistent action I take?

Work twice as hard! Allow yourself to realize that with every step forward, others may cause two steps backwards. Some will be observing your actions; hopefully they’ll catch some of your zeal when they see your success. Be consistent! And persistent!

What kept you from giving up?

Determination and the fact that I didn’t think anyone else could love Wilson because of his raging bark.
